13 Tough Interview Questions you need to prepare about this 2024
Job interviews can be a little nerve-wracking, especially if the questions require answers where you need to expound more. This allows the recruiter to generally assess two things: your thinking (the way it is critical and how you organize your thoughts) and your speaking (the way you convey these thoughts clearly and succinctly).

About Work Set up
- What is your perspective on the "new normal" and how do you see the hybrid setup working?
- What strategies do you use to maintain effective communication in a remote or hybrid work environment?
It’s always great, to be honest – whether you are going for the remote or hybrid setup, make it a point to justify why. Does hybrid help you to collaborate better to achieve your work goal? Better to answer in a complete way.
Your ways of working
- Could you describe what a typical day or week entails for someone in this position?
- Can you describe a time when you had to navigate a significant ethical dilemma at work? How did you handle it, and what was the outcome?
- Could you share your experience working with your current team members? Additionally, if you're in a leadership position, I'd be interested in hearing about your approach to management.
This is an opportunity to show how committed you are to your work, so show them how you organize your tasks, your priorities and what is an effective way for you to work. If you are in a leadership position, or applying for such, prepare a short list of your values. What values are important to you? That way you can illustrate better how you want to approach your ways of working, especially if it involves you working directly with the management.
Coping with Stress and Conflicts
- How do you manage stress and pressure in your work environment?
- Could you describe the most challenging situation you encountered in your previous role? This could involve a client or shareholder concern, a leadership issue, or a disagreement with a colleague or peer.
- Can you describe a time when you had to lead a team through a difficult project? What strategies did you use to ensure success?
- Could we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of making mistakes at work?
- How do you handle change within the organization?
- What aspects of the job do you think would make it a challenge for you and how will you approach these challenges?
These questions are the recruiters' gauge to fully understand how you deal with stress and conflicts – as they are very common in any workplace. As mentioned, your values should be intact, and you may discuss this further once you answer more questions regarding the latter part of your interview. This will show consistency, that you are indeed guided by your values in dealing with stress and conflicts and even change. You may also write a strategy, or something you did in the past - discuss it clearly with confidence.

- What are your hobbies or interests and how you might integrate them into your professional responsibilities?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this position, and how do you stand out from other applicants?
Companies will also assess how you are a good fit for the current team, your personality, and how your values align with theirs. This is a chance to let your true self shine – prioritizing your being via your hobbies/interests, while pursuing passion at work.
However, you may also ask the interviewer questions that allow you to understand the role.
- What are the most immediate challenges of this position that need to be addressed in the first three to six months?
- What is the workplace environment looking like? How does this affect the work setup?
The key to answering all these questions is to be direct to the point with clear and concise answers. Always look them in the eye and use your hands to show sincerity. You can also use situations or experiences in the past to support all your answers.
